Simple Story Tip #7: Be Empathetic with your audience

It’s so simple. So powerful.

And nobody does it.

Just imagine what your audience is thinking.

You can even ask them.

You can’t communicate well if you can’t see the world through your audience’s eyes.

Do they know and understand the terms you are using? Do they know and feel why the thing you are talking about is important?

What problems are they facing? What are they worried about? (It’s probably not whatever you are talking about).

How can you lead them from where they are now, what they’re thinking and feeling and worrying over… to where you want them to be?

How can you get them to really understand that you can solve their problems?

You can only do that effectively if you see them as full people and empathize with them.
